High School

Rebecca Gaul - HS Math

Miss Gaul is ICS-P's high school math teacher. She began at ICS in 2014 and is teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, PreCalculus, and AP Calculus. She graduated from Asbury University in May 2014 with a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Math Education. She received her teaching certificate from the state of Virginia to teach 8th - 12th grade math.

Hannah Hannings - HS Spanish

Hannah was born and raised in Tennessee (Go Vols!) but has always loved other languages and culture. Outside of school, she enjoys being outside, playing sports, spending time with friends over a good cup of coffee, and going on walks with her husband and dog Macy. She loves getting to share life with her students and is looking forward to another great year at ICS-P!

Ryan Kolbe - HS Social Studies

Mr. Kolbe graduated from Taylor University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Social Studies Education. At that time he also received a license from the State of Indiana to teach secondary Social Studies with an emphasis in World Civilizations, World Geography, and United States History. From August of 2005 to June of 2009, Mr. Kolbe taught at the International Academy of Suriname in Suriname, South America. He currently in his seventh year at ICS-Pyeongtaek.

Ross Sortore - HS and ES Specials Science

Mr. Sortore has a diverse academic background, with state qualifications and experience as both a music teacher and a science teacher. He holds two Batchelor degrees from Cairn university in Pennsylvania, and has taught in Virginia and Taiwan. Mr. Sortore has been with ICSP since 2010 and holds a Pennsylvania teaching license with endorsements in: biology (grades 7-12), chemistry (grades 7-12), music (PK-12), mid-level mathematics (grades 6-9), and Mid-Level Science (grades 6-9). In his free time, he enjoys time with his wife and three children.

Collin Thornton - HS English and Literature

Mr. Thornton graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a degree in Literature and English Education in 2005. He then completed a professional teacher licensure program with Point Loma Nazarene University Graduate Studies and received a professional teaching credential for English. Mr. Thornton has taught in San Diego and Los Angeles California and has 6 years of teaching experience overseas in Asia. He has taught all levels of education in Thailand, from kindergarten to University, and has most recently spent two years teaching in China at Guangdong Country Garden School, an International Baccalaureate World School. Mr. Thornton now lives in Pyeongtaek with his wife Amy and two children, Ethan and Elly.

Barry Wolfer - HS Bible

Hailing from the temperate paradise known as Oregon, Mr. Wolfer feels right at home amidst the rice fields of Pyeongtaek. With a deep desire to learn the world around him, he also feels right at home studying the Bible alongside students. He desires to pursue God and truth and looks forward to continuing life's journey with the students at ICSP. Despite a lifetime of learning and studying, Mr. Wolfer has few things figured out, but rests contentedly in God's sovereign control. Mr. Wolfer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Eastern Mennonite University, a Master of Arts in Counseling from George Fox University, and a Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from Western Seminary.

Middle School

Jonathan Edwards - MS Social Studies and Science Teacher

Jonathan Edwards graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelors degree in Social Work and is currently working on his Masters degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. After graduating, Jonathan moved to Guatemala and taught 6th through 8th grade science and social studies for four years before moving to Korea in 2012. Jonathan enjoys teaching middle school students as they grow in their independence and responsibility in order to succeed in high school.

John Greener - MS English, Social Studies, and ICS-P Athletic Director

Hello, my name is Jonathan Greener. I am the MS Humanities teacher (English, 8G Social Studies, and MS ELD). This is my first year as a Conqueror at ICS-P and I'm excited to be working, teaching, coaching, and having my daughter Eva (G1) studying in a Christian environment. I have a Master's of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Seattle University & a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts (certified to teach 4-12 English, journalism, speech, drama, & coach sports) from Washington State University. I have over 10 years of English teaching experience in Korea and some of you may recognize me from my previous two years teaching and being the head boys’ basketball coach at Korea Kent Foreign School. I'm happy to be teaching and looking forward to coaching boys' basketball this year. GO CONQUERORS!!!

Ricky Hannings - MS Social Studies, PhysEd, and K-4 ELD

Mr. Hannings is from Knoxville, Tennessee and graduated from the world famous University of Tennessee in 2011. He worked for 3 years with elementary children at an After School Program before finishing his Masters of Education in 2014. He has taught for two years--one year in Tennessee and 1 year at International Christian School. He enjoys playing games of all kinds, and is passionate about connecting students to the past and present and to faith in Jesus Christ.

Johanna Sigler - Fifth Grade

I feel like my calling to be involved with children came at a very early age. My family was a foster family with a very deep faith in God. I was able to see firsthand the transformation that took place in children when they were provided with a loving and respectful environment surrounded by God’s love. I currently have a bachelor’s Degree in both Elementary Education and in Nursing. I have experience teaching Kindergarten, first, second and third grade. My husband of 11 years is active duty Air Force currently serving at Osan AFB. We have been blessed with two sweet and crazy little boys, ages 8 and 9. I am thrilled to be a new family member here at ICS as the new fifth grade teacher!

Elementary

Tina Cho - Kindergarten

Tina Cho has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Faith Baptist Bible College and a master's degree in Effective teaching, learning, and leadership from Drake University in Iowa. Before moving to ICS Pyeongtaek, she taught for 11 years in the U.S. and one year at ICS Uijongbu, South Korea. Tina is also an author and enjoys creating a passion for learning in young children. Most of all, she loves teaching kids about God.

Amanda Hunter - First Grade

Ms. Hunter was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised in the Bermuda Islands. She graduated from The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina in 2008, with a B.A. in History. She moved to Korea shortly after graduation in 2009, and has taught English in Korean preschools for 6 years in and around Seoul before pursuing certification as an early childhood instructor. Ms. Hunter returned to school in 2015 to complete a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Studies at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. She is excited to be a part of the spiritual and academic journeys of each one of the fantastic, first graders this year!

Alexi Dather - Second Grade

Alexi is from Conway, Arkansas, where she graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education in December of 2015. She is certified in PK-4th. After graduating from UCA, she was the director over a summer reading program as well as an after-school tutoring program through a non-profit organization called City of Hope Outreach. She has a passion for teaching and helping students to see the value and potential in themselves and others.

Anna Jacobo - Third Grade

Ju Young "Anna" Jacobo graduated from the University of Houston-Victoria with her degree in Psychology in 2010. She continued to pursue her passion of teaching by becoming a certified Early Childhood through 6th grade teacher. She served as an upper elementary school teacher for 3 years in the Houston area.

Laura Johnson - Fourth Grade

Laura has a desire to help the future leaders of our world to love learning and to love people. I want to help all my students to succeed and to reach their goals. She feels that it is her obligation to teach her students to become independent thinkers and to be followers of truth. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Johnson Bible College in Florida.

Specials

Erin Han - ES Korean and Teacher's Aid

Erin Han graduated from Seoul Digital University with a Bachelor's Degree, majoring in English Language Studies. She also completed her certification for TESOL, TESOL for Young Learners, and English Reading Instructor for Young Learners. Altogether, she has over 6 years of English teaching experience from children to adults. Currently, Mrs. Erin Han is teaching Korean & Korean Culture to grades K through 4th. Also, she is a Teacher's Aid for Kindergarten & 1st grade. Her passion is to teach, love, and help these children to grow in their spiritual walk.

Jennifer Kim - Music

Ms. Jennifer Kim is a cellist, and a music educator. Her musical journey started when she was 5 years old. Ms. Kim attended Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland for her Bachelor's Degree in Cello performance. Then she continued to study more at Manhattan School of Music in New York where she did her Master’s Degree. In addition, Ms. Kim did music education program at Peabody conservatory and holds K-12 Music Teaching Certificate issued by the state of Maryland. She has taught many students privately and in groups including the experience of directing a youth string orchestra in a church.

Sarah Lim - Art Specials and Yearbook Teacher

Sarah has been the art teacher at ICS since 2014. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Ceramic Art, Painting, and Print Making from Ehwa Women's University/ College of Art and Design. Additionally, she is certified as an art psychotherapist through the Korean Art Psychotherapist Association.

April Mooney - Librarian

April Mooney graduated from Southern Arkansas University with a B.S. in Biology in 2002 and from the University of Central Arkansas with a DPT in Physical Therapy (PT) in 2005. Between 2005-2013, she worked as a physical therapist in a hospital setting where she was also a clinical instructor for PT graduate level students.

John Richards - IT Director, MS Math, and Computer Specials

Mr. Richards retired from the US Army in 1989 after 20 years and worked as a government contractor for 15 years before joining NICS in 2004. He spent 5 years in Seoul at our sister school (ICS-Seoul/YISS) as the computer teacher/IT director and 1 year with the NICS school in Belem, Brazil before joining us here in 2010. He is accompanied by his wife Pamela.
