A Brief History of NICS and ICSP
What is today known as the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS) began in Uijeongbu in 1983 as Liberty Christian School (now International Christian School-Uijeongbu) under the leadership of Joe Hale.
In 1990, elementary school branches were started in Seoul (now Yongsan International School-Seoul) and Songtan (now International Christian School-Pyeongtaek). After an extensive self-study, the accrediting team from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) visited the schools in April 1991 and the school received a full six-year accreditation in June 1991.
A dual ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) self-study was completed during the 1996-97 school year, and ICSP received full dual accreditation in 1997. In 2003, the International Christian School of Songtan moved to its present location in Pyeongtaek and is now known as International Christian School of Pyeongtaek.
In the Fall of 2014, the property immediately behind the ICS campus was purchased with the purpose of constructing a gym/multi-purpose building. The ground-breaking took place in May of 2015 with completion of the facility in early October of 2015. ICSP’s most recent accreditation visit took place in April of 2016. Its accreditation status was renewed in June 2016.
